Tributes Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt able to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to block the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A legal directive put a embargo on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the deaths, public figures offered divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors recently. Talking on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate should have intervened when the decision to comment on the passing was made.
