The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. The project was revealed, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in April of 2026.

"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the table, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Launch products are set to feature a beginner's box, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the nation into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the players come in.

Development on the game has been in progress for about several years, and it is reportedly complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a preorder system to reach a broader audience, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the campaign, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.

A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the game's rules reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Agents use abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than adding results together, players choose a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then compared against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights stress positioning and environmental awareness, mirroring the source material. Elements like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to reward teamwork and clever tactics over raw numbers.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way health is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still move and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state common to video game shooters.
  3. Any player in this state must roll on a trauma table, risking persistent effects like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It contains a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the full range of offerings will be detailed near the campaign launch.
