Ten individuals convicted of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of spreading untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's identity.
Their legal filing states that Owens ignored any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
