Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Attendees assembled over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” the governor told the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
