Liverpool's Star Extends Apology to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match following criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and it was business as usual,” Jones added.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “I understand there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have remained strong in the games following the situation. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a desire to win,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re gelling well as a team, getting results and securing victories.”
